Snow?!

Well it doesn't happen often....but the weathermen were right! They had been predicting "Winter Blast 2010" for this weekend; I was still skeptical.

So far about 7 inches have accumulated here in Chesapeake, VA. Pretty exciting for Hampton Roads!
I've been reading some other blogs and moms have been mentioning they wished they had appropriate "playing in the snow" clothing for their children. There just isn't enough use for it in these here parts...so some don't even have a true "winter coat". Fortunately for me, I went to college in Roanoke (shameless plug never hurt anyone!). While I was there my parents supplied me with a super warm jacket and my most prized possession....

my yellow wellies.
They just don't make 'em like this anymore!! They are very handy when you live in hurricane prone Hampton Roads...and for the occasional snow.
Well, whatever the weather in your neck of the woods, I hope your day is as relaxing and snuggly as mine has been.

Location, location, location...

I had always imagined myself marrying in a church...

However, when the time came to choose a location for our magical wedding ceremony I found myself in a pickle. You see, my church meets in a rented school building because we don't have a building of our own. Nobody wants to get married in a shabby school gym though! Fortunately, my uber smart mum suggested having the ceremony and reception at our family home. SQUEEL! I told you she was smart!
Our home sits on a fairly secluded plot of four acres in Chesapeake, VA:
...lots of space for wedding day shenanigans,

and loads of beautiful gardens (I can't take any credit for these)!
So the dreaming and scheming began....was it possible? was it logical? was it practical?
We'll find out soon enough, I guess?!

Wedding Shenanigans!

Future hubby and I will be getting married this October! The date is approaching at an alarming rate...there is still so much to do. We got engaged in January of 2008 but decided not to tie the knot until after we both graduate from our perspective graduate schools (there may have also been some strong encouragement/threats from our parents to wait....and we aim to please).
My usual responses to questions about the "big day" have typically been: "In two years, after I graduate with my masters".... well girlfriend... graduation day is in 3 months now!!!! Time to get things started!

Stay tuned for thrilling wedding planning shenanigans... but for now, take a look at the most splendid wedding blogs I religiously follow:
